The soup kitchen is a real gift in my life, because there are so many days when I just don't want to get out of bed... but I have to, because it's only open for breakfast. Today was one of those days. Even though it was beautiful out, I didn't sleep well last night and just wanted another hour of sleep. But I got up and took the muffins and scones in.
It was a beautiful day, and as I walked, I came across a man taking a photo of his wife; I offered to take a picture of both of them, and I took a few. Those are always fun, because... well, when people are taking pictures of each other, it usually means they're having a good time, and they're trying to capture a moment they want to remember. It's fun to give within the context of that positive experience.
I tried to make a conscious decision to smile at as many people as I could today, to make a few people laugh and generally to spread cheer. That, in turn, helped me feel cheerier. Of course, it's much easier to have that attitude on a sunny day.
I spent a lot of time at my office-away-from-home-office, the coffee shop, and I bussed and bussed and bussed.
I hope you all had great Fridays. Happy weekend, and cheers!
