29-Day Giving Challenge

Thought I had a pretty nice idea for a gift today.
In the morning, I dropped off my son at a friend. The friend's mom has a new baby, and the two of them were looking exceptionally beautiful. So, I decided that when I came back to pick my boy up, I'd take some nice photos of her and the baby, and send them to her.

Well, it kind of worked out. When I came back she was tired and her hair scraggly and there was too much going on for us to sit quietly and get a really good photo. I took some quick snapshots, and they're nice enough, and I managed to send them though I couldn't figure out how to resize them in Vista....

Oh well. Tomorrow's another day, and another gift. Anybody else had experiences of gifts that didn't work out exactly as planned?

Hmmm. I've been thinking about this gift, and why it didn't quite work out as planned. One reason is that I kind of imposed it on her. If I'd asked first, whether she'd like it (rather than present it in a way that's hard to refuse), and also given her the option of when we'd do it, she would have been more ready. Or she could have said no. I'm afraid I was rather enthusiastic and in a hurry to get my gift for the day done!

Eish! as we say here in South Africa. Live, give and learn.

I think the gift sounds lovely as is. And you can always try again next time you see her.

It happens all the time but it's the intention that is important Elizabeth... It was sweet of you to try...
