29-Day Giving Challenge

Round 2, Days 16-29 - How did that go by so fast???

Hey all,

So, like a small leaf in a huge gust of wind, the time between my 1st and 2nd Round of 29 Days of Giving seems to have been swept away in matter of moments. Whew!

I'll sum up Round 2 with one word: Abundance. Whether it's the struggle I've been facing within to feel abundant in my own skin and with what I have, or the abundance of blessings I have received in such a short time, I am loving the abundance in my life right now. From the challenge, I've learned that the actions I take to better the world better myself, that I am worth having good people and good work in my life, and that giving is such an easy way to find abundance. Amazing stuff folks!

Here's a rundown of the gifts I gave from Day 16 to yesterday, Day 29:

#16 - I gave my husband Steve whatever he wanted for five minutes. He chose a back massage. :)

#17 - I got to take my babysitting kids, O and M, out to dinner to my favorite vegan restaurant. Although their mom gave me money for the dinner, I decided to spend a little extra of my own to treat the kids to more yummy food.

#18 - I pulled a Cami and decided to devote this gift to my three kitties, making sure I gave them each a proper belly rub and looked them in the eyes and said "I love you so much."

#19 - I bought my scene partner Pamela a tea, and then later in the day, I saw a subway singer and decided to take his flyer to show him support.

#20 - I bought my scene study teacher a bar of yummy chocolate, since she had worked really hard all day and said she loved chocolate. :) I also watched and listened to a man who played some of the most beautiful music on the subway. I gave him $20 and talked to him for a few minutes to tell him how much I loved his playing and singing.

#21 - I showed extra presence and kindness to a man who works at my Deli who I normally don't talk to for much longer than a moment when I pay for my food.

#22 - I gave a waitress an extra $10 on her tip because she seemed to be having a tough day.

#23 - My brother's girlfriend just started a 30-Day Vegetarian Pledge (yay!), so I wrote a supportive message on her Facebook wall.

#24 - I mailed brother's girlfriend and my step-mom copies of The Kind Diet, by Alicia Silverstone, since my stepmom has also stopped eating meat (ever since she went to my benefit earlier this month! (Double yay!).

#25 - I had a really tough day, so for the first time in the Challenge, I decided to give myself a gift - an extra $20 in my clothing fund. ;)
#26 - I bought a friend of Steve and mine flowers for taking us out to a lovely dinner on Saturday night - it's was an event called 4-Course Vegan, and it's held inside a chef's loft in Brooklyn!

#27 - I had the pleasure of seeing Alicia Silverstone in her broadway show, Time Stands Still, for which she received rave reviews, so I brought her flowers when I met her after the show.

#28 - Steve left for for his acting tour yesterday (::sad face::), so I made a free dinner for him Monday night.

#29 - I gave $5 to the employees at Le Pain Quotidien in Manhattan, and I also bought Steve a $25 ticket to an event called Veggie Conquest, which is like an Iron Chef competition, but for vegan chefs. Can't wait!

I wrote that I met Alicia Silverstone during Gift #27, and that is just one of the many blessings that has come into my life. Alicia's support was made public when she posted an article on her website, The Kind Life, about my blog, Kiss Me, I'm Vegan! (you can check it out here: http://www.thekindlife.com/post/lindsay-wolf). This small shout-out took my blog's follower count from 58 to 136 people! Wow. As if that weren't enough, I've had several lovely creative experiences come my way this month, thus solidifying my desire to continue acting and singing as a part of my life's plan. I am learning to love every bit of where this life is taking me - I'm truly enjoying the ride, and the Challenge has been the driving force behind it all.

Onto Round 3! :)
