29-Day Giving Challenge

Round 3 - Days 6 - 11 (long post)

Careful - this is a long one. If anyone has trouble sleeping, this should put you under (I usually have that effect on women).

I have been both inacative and also away for a few days. My annual golf trip to Phoenix with friends. Great weather, good freinds, absolutely love it out there. As I tell Joel (owns the house we stay in): The thing that sucks about this trip is leaving.

So, while I was out there, and I'm always the first to wake, I packed the coolers for the course and made coffee. I also bought lunch an extra day, and one day treated everyone to breakfast sandwiches at the course when we had an early tee time. Last, I volunteered to be the designated driver on our last nite so the others could live it up a bit.

Airline travel is still a pain - we were delayed 4 hours coming back - got home at midnite (eastern time) instead of 8:00. Trying to get some things done, went to bed at 1:30. At 5:30, Sis called to tell me Dad is in the hospital with a heart attack. No worry, he had a stint put in and is already home and doing great! So that day I left work early and drove to the hospital (roughly 90 minutes 1 way). Had dinner with Momma, who didn't want me to stay. She wanted to call her brother and sisters and get to bed early.

My Sis is a French Teacher and was flying to Paris with 18 students yesterday - so they are naturally stranded with all flights canceled. after many calls, I finally reached her. They spent all day in Toronto airport and finally were being shuttled to a hotel. I have not yet learned if they found an alternate route today.

So in the meantime, yesterday an elderly man had dropped his cracker packet in the grocery store. He had a tray with his soup and other items and was trying to balance it on his hip as he bent for his crackers. No need, a Greek was there to help him.

Today, at the same store (they have a great deli and I haven't stocked food yet from being away), I again bought cookies for my co-workers.

Monday, I am having some minor shoulder / bicep surgery, hope to be out of the sling a 2 days and start PT right away. So, it will likely again be a while before a post. This one should help you get a much needed nap until I return.

Well, this didn't put me to sleep, but it did give me a laugh. Great giving during your golf tournament. I always like to go to Pacific Time zone. I get up early and impress everyone. I am actually sleeping in a little on my time clock. Hope surgery goes great. Will be thinking of you.
