I was given the wonderful opportunity to provide shelter to a friend of mine who needed a place to stay for the meantime. She had been pretty much unemployed since 2009 and in this economic crisis, has still been unable to find a job. I feel terrible for her and for everyone who is affected by this recession. I am also affected by this although I was lucky enough to still keep my job. I used to complain about my job, not getting paid enough, and about my colleagues- who can be annoying and hard to work with, but now, I find that instead of complaining, I can look at it as a blessing. I am glad I have annoying colleagues because it gives me a chance to work on my patience. And I am glad I have a job that doesn't pay a lot, because it has given me an appreciation for the finer things in life, and for the beauty of living a simple life. I find that I dont really need a lot to be happy. So even though my apartment is small, it is wide enough to those who need shelter and a warm bed for the night.
Blessings on all that lost their job. I pray for you.

Comment by Anita Silva on November 10, 2011 at 3:44am You are a gift Tikila. I find it very special that you offer shelter to a friend even though your place is only small. And I love the way you have decided to be thankful for the things you have got in stead of complaining or worrying about things you haven't got. I am impressed with your post.
What a beautiful post. You are a wonderful friend....I wish your friend all the best and hope she can get back on her feet soon. In the meantime, you are providing her the a warm home and security. That is an enormous gift!
