29-Day Giving Challenge

It's been a while since I posted, although we've been very mindful of giving in the past several months. We have been working so hard on the adoption process, and yet we do not yet have a child in our family. We recently made the decision to switch to a national agency, despite the fact that it would double our expenses ... meaning we were short on funds by about $15,000.

I've been selling books online, had a garage sale, and have been selling other stuff online. By friend donating stuff to you, we were able to make a fair amount of money, but the part that was truly mind-blowing is that a lady we met AT the garage sale for the first time organized a raffle for us! Initially she said she'd take care of everything, but then we had several friends ask for tickets, so we just got some tickets from her to sell.

My husband has just been stunned at how supportive people are. He said he feels like George Bailey in It's A Wonderful Life, when everyone comes forward to help out & they say he's the Richest Man In Town! We managed to raise $618 with the raffle, $200 through friends' donating, $2,500 from family, $1,747 through online sales, $1.400 by selling off vacation time, and $648 at the garage sale. We're in the process of weighing out the cost of iquidating retirement funds & I've applied to 2 grants.

So, lots of positive energy in the universe! And we hope one day it will lead us to a baby!

It's a Wonderful Life is my favoritest movie ever! the way things are falling into place is great...each piece of the puzzle that falls in to place is another sign that you are meant to be parents. i hope it happens for you soon! i am so glad to hear from you - i've been wondering how you were. Hugs, Dawn
