After spending a day at school preparing for the new term that begins next week (we may have ice, snow, or maybe just rain tomorrow, and I wasn't taking a chance), spent the evening working on Penelope the Empathetic Monster for the 600 Monsters for Newtown group. At this point, because Newtown is already overwhelmed with gifts for the children of Sandy Hook School, the group is planning to distribute knitted friendly monsters to kids all over the nation who are victims of gun violence in honor of those lost in the Newtown shooting. My Penelope is finished and her glued-on mouth is drying. Pictures later. I think I'll also do Toothy Joe the Mailbox Monster, and maybe Vinny V. Also did my click-to-donate sites.

You and your group will bring comfort to many frightend, hurting children. I think it is wonderful that you will be donating your friendly monsters to children around the country. I know that the parents and family members who lost loved ones at Sandy Hook will take some comfort from knowing that their children's legacies live on in the kind, loving acts of others.
Love this! Thank you for doing this!
That is a great plan to distribute these cuddly monsters to kids who are victims....I loved all of the pics, thanks for the links.
