29-Day Giving Challenge

Yesterday, my give was to send flowers to my husband. He is finally quitting a job that had been a negative experience for the past six years. He was delighted and surprised with the flowers. Today, I wanted to do something that 1) didn't cost money and 2) was for strangers. So my give was to let others get in line in front of me - in the store, on the roads. Little things, but that's what a day is made of - little things. Another give I did today was to clean up cigarette butts from a beach area. That's a give to the natural world. It's a habit with me actually - anytime I'm in a public outdoor place, like a park or a beach or woodlands, I pick up and throw away at least two pieces of trash. On the beaches, I look for plastics that seabirds might eat. In the woods, same things - plastics that birds would ingest, especially styrofoam. The natural world gives me so much; I try to give back.

I love this, and know that when I choose to put others first in the daily small things like lines and turns it makes for a less stressful me..I taught my kids when they were little to pick up while outside when they were little. They didn't like it, but I wanted them to understand we are all responsible for keeping our world clean and beautiful.
Regardless of who made the mess...
I love the ocean even though it is so far away from me and was deeply touched when I read how you pick up the plastics etc...so for those of us who can't be there or live close enough to do the same...Thank You..

Very lovely gifts you gave today Marybeth! Flowers are gr8 to receive! Things will be so much better without the negative job too! Good luck with that! I love that you pick up the trash! Just think how wonderful it would be if we all did that when we saw it laying there. I am going to do this! Thanks for the idea! :o) Have a fabulous wednesday!

Those are such wonderful and touching examples. Thank you for sharing them. And none of those are "little" things -- you can truly make someone's day by letting them in front of you in a line or on the road.

I used to pick up trash outside when I was a little girl but haven't done it in YEARS. Thank you for inspiring me to start doing this again.
