29-Day Giving Challenge

Day 11 (Thanksgiving) I made a corn casserole to bring to Bill's mom's. I had originally only committed to a cheesecake, but, well... For one, I love the recipe and wanted to eat it. But more importantly, she's 60-something and cooking by herself for all of us, so I thought it would be helpful. (Recipe: Mix 1 egg, 1 melted stick of butter, 1 cup of sour cream, 1 can cream-style corn, 1 can whole kernel corn (drained) and 1 box Jiffy cornbread mix. Bake at 350 for 45 minutes to an hour, until golden brown on top. Soooo simple, so good!)

Day 12 (Friday) I attempted for hours and hours to edit and upload to YouTube a video I managed to salvage from high school and have transferred to DVD. It's my best friend and I, as well as two other girls, in our pajamas, on stage at the holiday concert, singing "Santa Baby." I don't think they know the footage ever existed, let alone that I still have a copy. So I spent forever working on that to share with them. Unfortunately, Windows Movie Maker has a glitch, and until I figure it out, that gift is stalled. But I tried, right?!

Day 13 (Today) Every year, I shoot my friend Sarah's family photo, which she uses on her Christmas cards. Today's gift was that I drove an hour and a half (round trip) and did the pics in the freezing cold (mostly at my insistence, because I hate interior lighting for photos). Usually we do them earlier in the season, but I was out for my second surgery, so it didn't happen. Not to sound cocky, but they always come out nice. This year though, it is awesome! The "set" and styling (if flannel and barn boots can be called a style!") were my idea. I set up the camera on a tripod and shot them first, followed by their horse Chester and then one of the goats, Margaret. Then I combined them in Paint Shop Pro.

As we were wrapping up this afternoon, I started to see flakes - the first visible snow in New Hampshire this season! I felt like it was a bit of a reward (a gift!) for my hard work. :-)

Gotta scramble. Bill's on his way over to watch Christmas movies. Hope you all are having a great weekend!

yep, that corn casserole sounds good! i'm going to try it too. nice that you could take a little of the load off of Bill's Mom. my MIL did most of the Thanksgiving cooking too. she let me cook the ham but only because her oven was occupied baking pies, dressing and hot rolls. have a great weekend! Hugs, Dawn
