yes ma'am, I'd love another table!

If you promise not to tell anyone, I'll share a secret with you... By day I am a webmistress and community manager. By night, I don an apron and a cape & pull a few hours per night as Super Waitress!

It's true, I work in a restaurant, waitressing, and crazy as it may seem, I love doing it. I mean, I get to meet and talk to new people, every day, LOTS of them! I get to be paid for something that fits pretty well into my philosophy of "living a life of service" - plus it's great exercise, and I look pretty darn good in my Super Waitress cape too dag nab it!

Ok, 'nuff silliness.

Tonight was an absolutely INSANE night at the restaurant. We're normally pretty slow on Thursdays, but tonight we got pretty busy, and a lot of the tables were larger parties. In a the last 3 hours of my shift tonight, I had 3 tables that were parties of 10 or more, plus my regular tables as well. The last of the parties wasn't supposed to even be my table, but the waitress who was supposed to serve them was just too swamped (and embroiled in the typical waitress/cook drama) to take them so she gave them to me. I was pretty swamped myself, but my cape helps out a lot and when she offered them, I gratefully accepted the chance to take them. Of course, I had an excellent night with tips, had fun with the drama that keeps the food service industry afloat, and honestly enjoyed having one of those nights when I was too busy to do anything but run. I work best under pressure, it makes me happy to be able to do my job, and well, even when I'm slammed. It was a good night!

In addition, I handed out several 29 Gifts gift tags, bought this cute Avon handbag from one of the other girls which will be one of my daughter's Christmas presents, and gave one of the girls a "Smile" card from http://www.helpothers.org because she was just so ill-tempered she needed a reminder :)
