29-Day Giving Challenge

With less than $xx in our bank account until the next paycheck, I knew how close it would be to get the few items I needed at the grocery this morning. Lunch meat, a loaf of bread, 1/2 gal of milk, a 12 oz bag of fresh broccoli and a bag of fresh oranges brought my total to just under $21. Heading for the checkout, I scanned which of the open checkout lanes to approach. Normally, I'll just take the shortest line. All lanes appeared to be full so I walked down to the very last open lane which is the "10 Items or Less" lane. Watching the customers in front of me, I heard a murmer of "really?" and "is this for real?" comments. When it came my turn to checkout, I watched the screen as it totalled $20.59. The cashier then said, "You don't have to pay for this. It is being paid for by a customer at the head of the line." It turned out to be a local bank who said they do this every year at the holidays. I am amazed at the sequence of events that led me to the store at this time of day and to the only lane in the store where this miracle occurred. I thank God for His answer to my morning prayer and for again showing me that giving returns to the giver in more ways than one could ever think possible.

That is so cool!! Fantastic give for you to tell this story! It helps us all see that what we do, little things here and there, make a dramatic difference. Maybe not headlines or a seat on Oprah's show - but a difference in the life of a human being.

That is awesome.

I wonder if that bank has heard of 29gifts! A great surprise for customers in your line - and fantastic for you.
