Ah, my friend life has gotten wayyyyyyy to complicated for me. Movers come Tuesday, which is also the day I go to my friends for 5 days to watch her son while they go out of town. I have to be packed for a year by Tuesday and have my house cleaned and dusted so all my things can go into storage. ARGH! But I have made a list of all the negative things that I'm just gonna leave here. I made a list of all the positive things I am taking with me and luckily that's the bigger of the two lists. And luckily I have this website for inspiration because I need it. First stop Colorado for Christmas, Then Oklahoma the day after. I hope things are going well fory our
Hey Tammy, just seeing how your Thanksgiving was. It turned out to be just the two of us for dinner so ours was calm and quiet. Which was actually great, next year he will be gone so this will be a nice memory to carry over til he gets back. I hope things are going well for you!
Tammy why wouldn't a sincere apology count as a gift? Stop being so hard on yourself. Apologies usually aren't easy to give, so that's a great give! Righting the wrongs that we have done is never easy, in fact, sometimes it's not possible. I am looking forward to all the cooking today/tomorrow and especially looking forward to the eating!!!! My brother-n-law may be coming over for Thanksgiving. Then......black friday! I probably won't go to far as the crowds and the people can be overload for me really quickly. But I do have plans to go to Joann's Fabric to get a few crafting supplies that are on sale. I will also order a few things online since that's much more convenient for me. If you will pop over to my page and read my Day 5 it explains my condtion and my brain surgery. I don't mind questions about it at all, it's a part of who I am. I hope the dentist wasn't too painful for you, I know it's never a fun place to go. Like you I always look forward to your comments and finding out how your day is going. I hope the all the cooking goes smoothly and enjoyably. Happy Giving!
You know, just because you're stresses aren't health related doesn't make them any less stressful or any less real. Every one has their share of blessings and curses. Sometimes they just come in big sticky balls and you get stuck on the good side or the bad side for awhile. Life is never all sunshine and butterflies, for everyone. I hope that things will get easier and smoother for you, but until then, my ears and my shoulders are all yours! I'm here for you girl. Sometimes you just need a place to vent, I'll gladly listen, sometimes you need a shoulder to cry on, I'll gladly hand you a tissue while you sob. I'm sure it must get challenging to be so many things to so many people. I know they all appreciate it but II don't know how good they are at showing it. I certainly appreciate you! ;-)
Well hello my friend. My hubby is spending all of next year in Asia compliments of the United States Air Force. He is active duty and has been for more than 23 years now. As much as I will miss him I am grateful that he's going to Asia and not the sandbox. Plus I will be able to go visit him 2 or 3 times and he will come home for a month in the middle as well. So it's not so bad. Sounds like you had a busy but great day. Cornbread stuffing is the norm for the South and it's what I grew up on but I prefer white much to my mother's dismay. Sixteen is a nice size crowd for Thanksgiving. Are you doing all the cooking or will others bring things in? Oh I imagine your Mom-n-law will help hu? There is one Thanksgiving tradition that we skip in our house...pumpkin pie. Neither me nor my hubby eat it. So we make pumpkin roll instead....yummy!!
I'm afraid that my hubby is not much of a teacher. He even teases me that I shouldn't say these things aloud or to anyone for fear they will take his man card from him! ;-) But I do anyway because I love the way he takes care of me, I am very very blessed. He was even like this before I had brain surgery, so I think I'll keep him. Have a great day my dear!
Tammy, I hope that you are enjoying your visit with your Mother-n-law. I know your family must be enjoying her presence as much as you are enjoying hers. I love love love Italian food and Olive Garden is great! I have a great recipe given to me by a friend for Alfredo Sauce (it's just as good as Olive Gardens) and it's super simple. I'll gladly pass it along if you are interested. Is you Mother-n-law staying for Thanksgiving? And the big question...do you like white or cornbread dressing?
Well, they are packing up my house and I am going to live out of a suitcase for the next year. My husband will be going to Asia and I am just going to be a gypsy! I will spend the year visiting friends, family and, of course, going to Asia to visit Mick. It will be a great year of blowing like a seed in the wind. And this challenge is the perfect way to get things straightened out in my head before I set out on my journey.
Tammy, Remember that we can't control how others will recieve our gifts. I could try to make some lame excuse for her but it would be just that....so I won't even try. The important thing is that you did something for the kids and you gave from the heart. Don't let her response dampen your spirits. You're amazing! I know this and I haven't even officially met you!
I can't even begin how difficult it would be to get thru the holidays without Mom. Just take some time to remember the fun times with her, I'm sure she would want you happy and celebrating all the blessings she brought to your life.
Enjoy the time with your sister. I sooooo miss mine (even though her life is horribly chaotic). My entire family is in Oklahoma and I am living in Washington state. My sister and I love to scrapbook together. Actually she always needs my help, since she's the practical one and I'm the creative one.
Wow! Girl when do you have time to breathe? You must be insanely busy. Remember to take time for yourself, you deserve it!!!!
I sure your Mother-n-law appreciates the time she spends with you. My Ma-n-law always loves hearing my stories about her son because it sheds a new light on how others see him and who he is as a husband. She was worried because her husband (my hubby's dad) wasn't always the greatest. So she is always tickled pink when she hears about the sweet things he does for me.
BTW, we went to the movies tonight and saw The Blind Side. Great inspirational movie!!! So if you're looking for a great movie ... that's the one!!! I saw his story on ESPN, then read the book and now seen the movie. It's a great story!! Perfect fit for our 29 Gifts project.
And don't worry about leaving long comments on my blog....it always makes me smile when I see you've left me a comment! Enjoy the weekend, enjoy your family and Happy Giving.
Tammy,
That's my sister's name too BTW. So I immediately feel connected to you. I am so sorry about your Mom. I can't even begin to imagine how diffifult that would be. I am blessed that my Mom is a breast cancer and 2 open heart surgery survivor. I thank God that I still have her around for me and for my son, who is living with her and Dad while he attends college.
Like you I've always been a natural giver. It's not unusual to find me making something for someone else. But recently I've just found that I was giving to make them happy and found myself empty. So I'm glad I read the book and found this site. And I'm blessed to find you! Reading a msg from you always brings a smile to my face. Thanks for being the type to share. You're my kinda girl!
Tammy, Thanks for the warm, encouraging words. You spoke like someone who'd been givning for a lifetime and it intimately acquainted with the benefits. So I was surprised when I read your page and learned that you were on Day 2!!!! You're an inspiration. Thank you!
Hi Tammy,

In November, we're sponsoring a cause that has been started by fellow giver, Lubabat. We are so deeply touched and impressed by Lubabat's strength of character & spirit. Lubabat was diagnosed with MS in the mid 90s and then in August of 09, she was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. Her reaction has been so inspirational - she is thriving through giving. She is hosting a Christmas Give and her theme is "going small to make a big impact" We have named her our November Cause of the Month and would be grateful for your support!
I would love to receive these stones - my only problem would be whom to give them to - I hope that you would give us a chance to purchase them after the contest is over
What a beautiful gift giveaway! I would love to win this and give it to my best friend, because I love her for all of these reasons, and for many more. Thank you for offering such a nice item.
Good luck to all members !!...We could all benefit from this CD, as this could help the rest of us who don't have MS, ALS, MD, etc., better understand what these wonderful people are going through, and what strength and courage they have. God bless…
A few years ago I worked with a friend named Jeff in Maryland. He called me his "buddy." A super guy, always smiling and fun to be around. Back in the fall we received the news that he is dying from brain cancer. What a shock, he is only 42. He has…
These are such a neat idea! How wonderful to hand these out to family and friends to just let them know how you feel and give them a little lift when they see it!

What a great idea. I am going to send to my son in college that way when he is having a bad or stressful day he can pull them out. I am a "PAY IT FORWARD" type of person. I feel if you give of yourself then you are ALWAYS giving.
Hi my fellow givers!!I just wanted to tell everyone that I just finished my 29 day gift challenge and it was a mixed experience that I enjoyed very much and taught me a lot about human nature. I had a couple of my gifts rejected, but, mostly they w…
I absolutely LOVE telling people I love them for a million tiny little reasons...it makes me feel great and reminds them how fabulous and important they are to me. I'd love to share these stones with them!
