Comment by Rita Lewis on February 7, 2012 at 2:10pm Hi Cami,
Iam really looking forward to this challenge & hope that I can impact someone's life in a very positive way-I know as having been a nurse it was always so rewarding to help another person. I miss that part of my life. I am so pleases that I happened to come across your article in the Body & Soul Magazine which has been sitting under a bunch of old mailings for weeks now!
Thank you for all your insights & much thanks to Mbali & her wisdom.
Gratefully,
Rita
Welcome, MelissaM! Yes, you simply click on Blogs on the main menu bar above and they save to your personal blog area, where you can go back and review or edit them at any time. When you post a new blog, it also appears briefly on the main Blog page. The length of time it stays "on top" is dependent on the number of member blogs posted after yours.
Please let me know if that answered your question, or if you need further assistance. Happy Giving!
Day 10 I decided to give a gift of food. I bought a ham, #10 potatoes, canned corn, green beans and sweet potatoes. My intent was to drive through a neighborhood until I found a home with children in the yard. I saw a man using a walker with determination, it was 28F and he was alone. It took him 30 minutes to reach his destination, while he was resting near his front door, I approached him with the box of food. "What's this, are you selling something" "No sir" I said " I am giving something" He was surprised. I looked in his deep blue eyes, saw the Father I lost 10 years ago and said, "Have a Merry Christmas". C hristmas is not a holiday we celebrate, but it seems to make the accepting of a gift easier for folks. I tried the 29 Days of Giving over the Summer and people were such skeptics, they seemed afraid that it was some sort of a trick.
Sandra! I just saw your post from September and hope someone answered your question. Just in case, I'm answering now...
Yes! Feel free to tell your recipients about the challenge and direct them to the site. That is a gift in itself and helps spread the giving movement further. Courtesy gifts, as kathleen koch asked about below, are usually quick and don't leave much time to tell about the challenge. The most important thing is giving mindfully and freely and enjoying the communal experience.
kathleen koch: your gifts can be in any form, size or shape! The cool thing is, after you're into the challenge for a few days or so, giving opportunities seem to present themselves to you, whether it's your time, money, resources, favors, phone calls, letters, food, purchases, whatever, it will feel right to give it at that time.
Please post about your experiences. Amazing patterns can appear when you review your posts and comments left by others.
